Dean Forsythe Obituary

Victoria, British Columbia - Michael (Dean) Forsythe passed away peacefully in his sleep at Victoria Hospice on May 17, 2026, after courageously battling cancer for eight years. Though his body grew tired, his strength, humour, and stubborn determination never wavered.

Dean leaves behind his daughters, Linda and Lesley (Matt) and his grandchildren Dale and Ainsley. We are especially grateful to dad's caregiver Alex, who made it possible for him to live comfortably at home almost until his final days.

Dean is also survived by his brothers Greg (Carole), and Chris (Judi); and brothers-in-law Alan (Brenda) and Scott as well as several nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his loyal little companions, Larry and Sheri, the budgies who rarely left his side.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sherrill, his daughter Lorrie, and his brother, Cameron (Eleanor), with whom he is now reunited.

Born with the heart of an outdoorsman, Dean was a trophy winning sport and salmon fisherman, a skilled hunter, and a man who embraced every part of West Coast life. Whether he was out on the water, camping under the trees, curling, golfing, or dancing, he lived with enthusiasm and a deep appreciation for the world around him. Clients of his office supply business over the past decades will remember Dean as a kind, generous and honest businessman.

His family will remember him for his humour and his ability to fix anything using mostly duct-tape! Dean will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

We wish to thank everyone who helped our dad manage his day-to-day life after Mom passed in 2019. A special thanks to his medical team: Drs. Burger, McGhie, Yee and Kinahan, and the staff at BC Cancer and Victoria Hospice.
