Victoria, BC - Leslie Raymond Beddoes Jr. passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026, in Victoria, British Columbia, with his beloved wife Janet Beddoes and daughter Jennifer by his side, holding his hands while listening to Johnny Cash.

Leslie was born in La Feria, Texas, where his father served as mayor. He spent his school years in Dallas, Texas, where he became known as "Backstroke Beddoes" for his exceptional swimming talent. Swimming scholarships carried him through school and university. We like to imagine he is swimming through the sky on his way to heaven.

Leslie's career as a Geologist and pioneer in the South East Asian Oil and Gas exploration industry lead him to his greatest adventure in Singapore, where a chance squash game introduced him to the love of his life, Janet. Together they built a remarkable life filled with travel, friendship, and stories, living in Singapore, Australia, London, Indonesia, and Calgary before eventually retiring to Victoria to leave the cold weather of Calgary behind.

Leslie was an avid tennis player who continued playing well into his 80s. He had a sharp mind, an endless curiosity, a wonderful sense of humour, and a gift for storytelling that could captivate anyone lucky enough to sit and listen. He was a classic gentleman who got up early every morning, always clean shaven and well put together, ready to start the day no matter where life took him.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Janet, daughter Jennifer, son-in-law Michael, family, and friends whose lives were enriched by his warmth, wit, and adventurous spirit.

The family would also like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Oakwood Manor Care Home for the kindness, compassion, and genuine care they showed Les over the last few years of his life.
